WINS is short for: Weeskinderen Indonesië Naar School (orphans Indonesia to school).
The children that are guided by the WINS project are orphans and children from poor famlies.
Our goal is to facilitate education for the children and to teach them to become independent and responsible, so they will be able to solve their own problems and that they will not always be dependant of others.
At the moment there are eight Learning Centers in Indonesia, where the WINS program is implemented:
• Bedulu (Bali), Yayasan Widya Guna
• Tianyar (Bali), Yayasan Widya Sari
• Angkah (Bali), Yayasan Masa Depan (in cooperation with Stichting Indonesië 2007)
• Kerta (Bali), Yayasan Kerthaning Widya Bhuana
• Seraya (Bali), Yayasan Seraya Bundar (in cooperation with Stichting Bali Bundar)
• Tonjong (Bogor, Java), Yayasan Teratai Kasih (in cooperation with Stichting Waterleliefonds)
• Girikerto (Yogyakarta, Java) Yayasan Ghifari
• Lam Asan (Aceh, Sumatra). Yayasan Lam Asan (in cooperation with Chance International UK)
The WINS education program consists of:
• Ensure attending regular education for the children;
• Offering additional lessons at the WINS Learning Centers, with the focus on developing independency and responsibility;
• Where needed taking care of shelter and housing;
• The child sponsoring program. You can sponsor a child, so the child is able to attend regular education (there is no fee for our additional lessons at our Learning Centers). Please visit our website if you want to learn more about sponsoring a child.
The goal of the WINS program is to teach the children independency and responsibility. Besides attending the regular schools, our additional lessons consist of:
• English and computerlessons;
• Culture (Indonesian dance en music);
• Sexual education;
• Communication skills;
• Future prospective thinking and planning;
• Care for environment, wastemanagement and hygiene.
According to our WINS program, every Learning Center need to become self sufficient within a certain time and able to pay for their own operational costs. After all, there will be time when they have to do it theirselves. We help them with setting up a business to generate their own income.
All WINS volunteers, also the boardmembers in the Netherlands, France, the USA, Australia and the UK are doing unremunerated work. They don't receive any fee or salary.
